Should I start with obvious statement that I LOVED the
film…coz as a Rajeev fan its gonna be an obvious reaction… Table no.21, a film
with strong content & script & equal amount of thrill.
Film takes you
through game journey of married couple Vivaan(Rajeev khandelwal) & Siya
(Tena desae) who are on vacation in b’ful pristine Fiji Islands, they get to play a game of Truth & Dare
for whooping 10 million Fijian dollars ala 21 crores…but don’t think …that is
what makes the title “21”… its not as simple as it sounds…coz the biggest catch
is only lifeline to game is nothing but “Truth”…
As a audience you will njoy the film if you like watching
edge on your seat thrillers. With every frame you will be curious &
intrigued to know what next task is in store for the couple & what gonna be
Mr.Khan’s next question….& whether Vivaan-Sia will be able to fulfill the
given tasks. You will enjoy the game…& will be involved in the game
throughout.
As the film will progress
the real faces, different layers, truths of characters will come out…which will
change your original perceptions of the characters…Vivaan as a character is not someone you
will love. ..you may love him till interval or you may love him as Siya’s
husband…but as a person, as a character
I leave it to his individual fans.
I still remember the first review of the film’s trailer was
“Paresh Rawal will make you hate him & Rajeev will make you fall in love
with him” but now I wud like to add “Vivaan will make you hate him too”. Theatrical Trailer
From very beginning, throughout promotions, even the buzz
around Table no.21 & a general perception was film has one hero (Vivaan),
one heroine (Siya) & one villain (Mr.khan)
but after watching film guess the perception will change. Till interval if u hate Mr.khan for putting
Vivaan –Sia through all the adversities & weird tasks…by the time you reach
climax guess you wud be the one supporting Mr.khan…because he was nowhere
wrong…coming out of theatre somewhere a thot may strike you that Vivaan-Sia
deserved it…for what all they did…Mr.Khan may have been harsh on the couple but
his actions are justified through flashbacks.
Performance wise it goes without saying Rajeev-Paresh Sir
take the cake…they were perfect for their characters, infact Rajeev will surely
surprise as Vivaan, not because he is gone negative for first time…we have seen
tinge of negative as Sujal also where inspite of knowing he was wrong we still
loved him, but Vivaan surely went too far & what all he did is something
not acceptable….I never imagined I wud hate any of characters played by
Rajeev…& that itself proves the acting caliber of Rajeev…coz Vivaan is
meant not to be loved. Infact, Vivaan
needed an actor like Rajeev khandelwal who cud potray the various emotions
& various layers of Vivaan….He will really surprise u for sure coz with
kind of image he has you wud have not imagined him to do the things he did on
screen…he literally went too far & extreme…also Vivaan needed an actor who gives
competition to Mr.khan.
So Hats Off to Rajeev
...& I cant imagine any other actor cud have played Vivaan better than him….he
has been perfect choice as Vivaan.
Also, cant take credit away from Tena she did a fair job
& made her presence amongst Rajeev & Paresh Sir…a special mention for
Dhruv…I never thot in a Rajeev’s film apart from him any1 else can make me emotional…but
Dhruv was good in his short role.
Frankly I was apprehensive abt the direction…after WYMM
experience from Aditya…but he managed to pull off the film well … certain
scenes got dragged but that’s ok small mistakes can be forgiven…The so talked
abt “intimate scenes” cud have been edited…it was not much required…but yes
Kiss surely was :P :P
Movie had started like a fairytale…with so much in love
couple Vivaan Siya, enjoying a free trip, My first impression was Vivaan is so
like Rajeev :P principled & hardworking “khushi mehnat se mile toh maza hi
kuch aur hai”… forgot the full dialogue…but boy how my perception changed
later.
Initial tasks given by Mr.khan were easy & enjoyable
too…specially the manipulation one…dat was surely a smart one…& its related
Flashback scene was surprising never knew Rajeev will be able to pull that off
(whole dialogue was so double meaning)…it was really mean of him & from
there on I had thot Bobby was related to Mr.khan… & One task I hated was
the blood one it was surely heart wrenching one…& there on tasks went on
more devilish.
Overall film was a good effort, strong in content, & for all those people & critics who
said this is inspired by this movie, dat movie, so an so Hollywood film…I can
say because I haven’t seen any of them so for me personally it was as new,
fresh as first time…coz I didn’t knew anything abt all the films dat have been
said to be inspired Table no.21…. & “to know that u don’t know is very
important” So I thoroughly enjoyed the film & I don’t care even if it was
inspired by any English or hindi film.
Can say in Mr.khan’s style “I am impressed Rajeev” with the
choice of film…out of 5 I wud give 4 coz I felt film had its own loopholes
specifically the ragging scenes went too far & it was disturbing &
upsetting to watch…also the intimate scenes cud have been done away with…
Film comes out with a good message… & I wud advise
younger generation to watch it instead of watching the dhinchak masala kind of
flicks…infact, colleges, Universities should also make their senior students
watch this one…
Table no.21 is a strongly recommended film, a
must-watch, you wud enjoy watching it
& will come out satisfied that yes u watched something worthwile…Surely a
one time watch (coz second time you wud be knowing wat wud happen next) …but if
u want to watch you are more than welcome….Irrespective of fact whether you are
a Rajeev khandelwal fan or not, coz if u are then it’s a treat for u to watch
him…& if u are not his fan then after watching you wud surely be one…
